Department / Team: Battlespace Awareness Command and Control (C2) Systems Team
Security Clearance: Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Company & Product Overview

  • Defense technology company developing systems powered by Lattice OS (an AI-powered operating system for real-time command and control).
  • Focuses on autonomy, artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology for defense applications.

Role & Team Focus

  • Team: Battlespace Awareness Command and Control Software Team.
  • Scope: Define the architectural direction for large-scale, real-time, mission-critical C2 software powering air and missile defense and battlespace awareness capabilities.
  • Deployment Context: Systems span tactical edge deployments to distributed backend infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the architectural vision for large-scale C2 software systems that ingest, fuse, and act on data from diverse sensors in real time.
  • Lead the design and implementation of performant, real-time, numerics-heavy algorithms in Rust and/or C++ at production scale.
  • Partner with research scientists to transition advanced algorithms (target tracking, state estimation, sensor-effector pairing, asset scheduling) from prototype into tactical, deployed code.
  • Make architectural trade-offs across performance, modularity, testability, and maintainability for mission-critical, edge-deployed systems.
  • Mentor and technically lead senior engineers; establish coding standards, review processes, and CI/CD practices across the team.
  • Engage directly with defense stakeholders and agencies (such as DoD, Army, Air Force, MDA, SCO) regarding mission-critical requirements.
  • Troubleshoot system issues across software, mathematical assumptions, sensor behaviors, and networking.
  • Contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including prototyping, modeling and simulation, field testing, and deployment.
  • Assist in shaping technical hiring and organizational growth for the C2 team.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied/Computational Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Controls/Dynamical Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Expert-level proficiency in modern C++ and/or Rust, including asynchronous and multithreaded programming (e.g., Tokio for Rust).
  • Experience architecting large-scale, production-grade codebases in real-time or high-performance environments.
  • Experience writing performant, real-time software with numerics-heavy algorithms.
  • Foundation in applied mathematics: probability theory, linear algebra, optimization, differential equations (ODEs), and statistics.
  • Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, git version control, and microservices.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a technical field (software and math background).
  • Domain expertise in target tracking, state estimation, Kalman filters, sensor fusion, or signal processing.
  • Prior DoD program experience (Army, Air Force, MDA, SCO, Navy).
  • Experience with GPU / CUDA kernel development.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary:

  • Salary Range: $253,000 – $336,000 USD per year (base salary only).
  • Equity: Equity grants included in full-time offers as part of total compensation.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive health and recovery benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.

Application & Screening Details

  • Transcripts: Academic transcripts (official or unofficial with non-technical details redacted) or detailed coursework/project summaries are requested during the application process.
