Firmware Engineer

MIRA·Mid-level·On-site · San Francisco, CA

Posted Sep 26, 2026·trymira.com

Apply

Company Background

The next great leap in AI will happen in the real world, on your face, in real time. MIRA is that leap, and it gives you a second brain: lightweight AI glasses that remember every conversation, answer any question in under a second, translate 60+ languages, and surface the right context exactly when you need it.

We recently sold out and shipped our first batch of units, and we're moving fast. MIRA has raised $6.4M from General Catalyst, Naval Ravikant, Pillar VC, and more.

We're a small team of engineers and builders in San Francisco solving some of the hardest problems in consumer AI and wearable hardware: real-time responses, all-day wearable design, ambient context understanding, and human-AI interaction that just works.

Our website link if you want to learn more/see the glasses in action: trymira.com

Responsibilities

MIRA is looking for a talented Firmware Engineer to help build the next evolution of human-AI interaction. This role is full-time, in-person, in San Francisco.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of software or firmware engineering experience.
  • Strong systems programming fundamentals (C/C++, Rust, embedded systems, low-level debugging, RTOS, BLE, device communication stacks, etc.).
  • Experience building complex technical products end-to-end, ideally across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Strong product intuition and ability to make pragmatic engineering tradeoffs in fast-moving environments.
  • Comfortable working close to hardware, debugging real devices, and shipping production systems under tight iteration cycles.

These might make you a great fit

  • Experience with wireless protocols, embedded Linux, microcontrollers, sensors, audio pipelines, power optimization, or real-time systems is a major plus.
  • Prior experience at an early-stage startup, ideally as a Founding or early engineer, is a strong plus.
  • Prior experience building consumer hardware products is a strong plus.

Requirements

  • Commute to this job's location.
  • No need for visa sponsorship.
