Job description
Our client is a leading provider of software solutions for railway infrastructure, focusing on mission-critical traffic and safety management systems used nationwide.
Shape the next generation of railway systems in Belgium by contributing to the evolution of a mission-critical traffic management platform. You will support the modernization of a real-time system operating 24/7, where reliability, safety, and performance are essential.
As a Rust Developer, you will be involved throughout the lifecycle of the system, from design to deployment, with a strong focus on robustness and long-term maintainability. You will:
- Develop new features aligned with the product roadmap.
- Participate in the design and implementation of core software modules.
- Produce clear technical documentation.
- Support the transition from C to Rust, sharing expertise and mentoring team members when needed.
- Take part in technical decisions related to tools, methods, and engineering practices.
- Contribute to safety and security activities, including Threat and Risk Analysis (TRA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Required qualifications
Must-Have Skills
- Advanced expertise in Rust development.
- Solid background in C.
- Working knowledge of Linux environments (development/debug).
- Comfortable with Git-based workflows.
- Professional proficiency in English plus Dutch or French.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in safety-critical systems.
- Clear communicator with a collaborative mindset.
- Curious, proactive, and solution-oriented.
- Hands-on and motivated by complex technical challenges.
Nice to Have
- Scripting with Python and/or Bash.
- Exposure to Java environments.
- Experience writing technical or design documentation.
- Ability to navigate between high-level architecture and low-level implementation.
