What you’ll do

• Design, build, and operate backend services written in Rust that process high volumes of financial transactions with strong guarantees around correctness, idempotency, and auditability
• Own features end to end, from shaping the product spec through technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
• Integrate with external partners such as banks, payment processors, blockchains, and identity and compliance vendors
• Improve engineering quality across observability, incident response, security practices, and API design
• Collaborate closely with product, compliance, and other engineering teams across MoonPay’s global network
• (Staff level) Set technical direction for your area, mentor other engineers, and drive architectural decisions that span multiple teams

About you

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience (8+ for Staff), with a track record of shipping and operating production systems at scale
• Strong backend experience with a statically compiled language (e.g. Rust, Go, C#, C++) is a must
• Prior professional Rust experience is not required, but interest in Rust and motivation to become an expert in it are very welcome, since our services are written in Rust
• Solid fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, data modeling, and asynchronous processing
• Comfort working in domains where precision matters, such as financial systems, double-entry ledgers, reconciliation, or similarly correctness-critical software
• A pragmatic, autonomous, ownership-driven mindset
